Devinssi winery, a wine-producing business, was funded in 2000 by Josep Roca, a viticulture and oenology expert with about 40 years working experience in this field. The first vineyards were planted in 2001 in Finca Les Planes (partida Planassos), in Gratallops along with the construction of a small winery in the same location. The winery was built on the basis of what previously was an old mill. The first wines are a result of the harvest of small old vineyards that grew Grenache and Samsó grape which are located in Gratallops and Vilella Baixa. In 2005 the owners managed to recover an old vineyard growing Samsó grape (south of Aubagues) with the intent to produce Rocapoll wine (300 bottles per vintage). Currently the business produces about 12.000 bottles of endorsed wine per year. On the one hand, the name of the winery is inspired by the famous artist Leonardo Da Vinci who had several talents and, therefore, refers to the idea that a small winery needs to work well in many ways and be a little bit of an artist in order to produce single pieces of art. On the other hand, “De vins, sí” in Catalan means “We know about wine/ We are passionate about wine/ We are wine experts”.
